Advice needed - how to keep a tire in storage fresh
I need some advice, I have a spare tire from the R8, it is one of those collapsible tires. At first I put an ad to sell it on the R8 board a few months ago but I decided to keep it just in case I ever get another R8 again (doubtful but possible since this spare fits the new model too)
What is the best way to store it ... do I put it in a garbage bag ? Should I put it in my basement which is on the humid side compared to my garage which can get hot and dry ? I’d like to keep it in as new as condition as possible. |

The best thing to do by far is keeping it out of the sun. UV is the worst thing you can do your plastics/rubber. Besides that, keep it dry and not loaded in a weird angle.
That’s my limited adv. |

Stored in a bag out of the sun. Agreed that UV is the big thing. The basement might be slightly better, but not meaningfully, so put it where it’s convenient.

Both UV, extreme cold and ozone are bad for tires. Bag them, or wrap in the large industrial plastic wrap from the home Depot, and store away from your furnace and you'll be good.
