Is Honda/Acura ever going to build a sport sedan?

There have been rumors of an S2000-based RWD sport sedan for ages. Short of that, it seems like it would be so easy to make an AWD RSX or TSX, add power and upgrade the suspension. Bam!

And I suspect they'd sell a lot of them.

Why hasn't this happened? Everyone and their mother makes an AWD or RWD small sedan. Why not Honda?

(This rant/question was brought on by me spending some time in an RSX. The car seems like it would make a great enthusiast commuter if it just wasn't FWD and had more power. Hell, I'd buy one. The seats are superb. The rest of the interior is sharp. And the exterior is handsome. Good clutch/shifter feel. Fit/finish excellent. But it's driving the wrong damn wheels.)

Don't bet on it. Expect to see an AWD Accord and either TSX or TL, though, in the next generation of that car, using the cool SH-AWD technology of the RL.

There was a show car at Tokyo this month that presaged this.

An AWD TSX would be fine.

Honda's idea of AWD is FWD that powers the rear wheels only when the fronts are slipping on ice. If they'd make a S2000-based sedan, and actually keep it RWD, I'd be all over it.

Is that a sedan? I don't see any door handles at all (or doors for that matter).

Ack!

The "pedestrian friendly" hood design rears it's (very) ugly head again.

This one EU rule may have single-handedly ruined car design.

There is a second pic at the link JST provided that shows door outlines more clearly.

But it is just a sketch.

Thanks, I just noticed that. Still an ugly, unimaginative design if you ask me. The back end is very Acura-esque and blah.
