Any of you NCC members going to do the O'fest caravan?

I've seen a guy named Steve posting about an Oktoberfest (in Pasadena) caravan originating from D.C. :awe:

I'm going to try and finagle 5 or 6 days to drive my car cross-country when we move.

I'd really like to do that rather than just ship it and fly. That would seem like a wasted opportunity to me.

You could do it in under two if you try.

Or you could find someone to drive with you and get it done in just over a day and a half.

I want it to be fun!

A day and a half?!? I always thought the minimum was about three days, with 24-7 driving, save meals and fuel/piss stops.

I'm figuring 5 or 6 days, driving 10 hours a day. Am I overestimating, given I have a heavy right foot?

You're never going to be able to average 70mph, unless you drive like Stuka and have his abilities to weasle out of tickets.

When you go through some of the mid-west states you will have to be extra vigilant, since a good majority of the state's revenue comes from busting speeders.

24-7. Dan Gurney and Brock Yates did it in about 36 hours from the 1971 Cannonball Run (from NYC to Santa Monica IIRC). I've done San Diego to DC solo (probably about ~75 fewer miles than NYC to SM) in 46:48 and the best with a co-driver was 38:42 (both in the days of 55/65).
