Significant base price increase in 2012 for 135i
Ask me how I know this.
The base price difference between the 2011 and the 2012 135i is $2,750. But the dealer can't tell me why. I might be naive, but that seems like a substantial jump for one year. Are there some significant changes that happened between the 2011 and the 2012 to justify that increase? Yes, this is the correct forum for this topic because I now, am a perseverator. Or a perseveratee. Or something like that. Oh and there are very few 2011 6SP MTs to be had. I'd have to pay a lot to get one here. |

Quote:
1) BMW repriced the 1-series and 3-series to effectively make the automatic a "no charge" option. So, if you are buying an automatic your base price effectively dropped about $400, but if you buy a manual you are now paying about $1000 extra. 2) They added power seats and ipod adapter as standard options (~$1400 in options) on the 2012 1-series 3) However, leather was free for 2011 as part of the "Value Package" which is no longer available. So, bottom line, if you buy a manual 1er or 3er right now you're getting bent over a bit, if you're buying an auto (or DCT) you are better off. Other than that, it was a standard price increase plus some option reshuffling.

I found a used 2010 that is equipped as I'd like it. It's at a BMW dealer out of state. The site mentions that it's a "factory executive car". Is this a giant red flag? The car is not CPO.
Thoughts? |

We bought our 2002 325iT CPO, that was also a "BMW Executive" car. It's been perfect.

I'd also wonder why its not CPO... Did something happen to it that makes it not CPO-able?

They often don't CPO a 1 or 2 year old car, just because used car buyers see less value in the extended warranty on a car that new and won't pay the premium for CPO coverage to cover the cost of the warranty.
