I kept waiting for the negative turning "but..."
I'm glad it never came.
There's no reason not to turn it into track car other than maybe it's not the best candidate, but so what? If the obejct is to have fin, tinker, learn, and such, there's plenty you can do with the car to make it better for that application. Most of it will probably make it less useful in other roles you described. But, again, so what?
