I put in the clutch to coast down to about 20mph and move the shift lever from 4 to 2 but left the clutch in while I continued to brake. The light changed and I was able to smoothly let the clutch out in 2nd and pull away. My passenger wasn't subjected to lengthy engine braking or multiple blip downshifts. I know this is a silly example, but just the first one that came to mind from an hour ago that would have annoyed me (or at least changed my driving habits) if I didn't have a real manual.
Just pull the paddle twice quickly, or move the lever to N then back to D.

Though, I don't know that I would ever coast for any distance with the clutch in. There's no real reason to do that except that you are tired of constantly clutching in and out. Right?
