I’m not sure what the fuss is about...
Matt and I purchased “Enhanced Auto Pilot”, which was $5k at order or $6k to add later. Full Self Driving was another $3k, and we didn’t purchase it due to phantom ware (and it could be enabled later for $5k). With EAP, we get traffic aware cruise control, autosteer, and “navigate on autopilot” on highways. FSD was never fully defined, but total cost was $8k at order, or $10-$11k if activated after delivery.
Now they have flipped the pricing, and dropped the word “enhanced”. Autopilot includes just TACC and Autosteer for $3k at order/$4k later. FSD is now $5k at order /$7k later and includes Navigate on Autopilot now (highway version now/city streets version later), with stop light/sign recognition coming. Total cost is still $8k at order or $10-11k later.
And Tesla has thrown us current owners a bone... we can now add FSD for only $3k, not $5k. And they have defined that it will include Nav on Autopilot for city streets and the stop light/sign recognition. Still phantomware for now, but no more price penalty (for now at least...)
Tesla has dropped prices. Big frickin hairy deal - after rebate it’s not much...
