Yes, but there can be a bit of a lag or a funny feeling of non-response since the car is going to the exact rev and you are approximating it. In effect, you are just getting in the way of the car. I still do it myself and most of the time it's transparent, but there are times when I "miss" and I notice it. There are other times when I take advantage of it instead of trying to heel-and-toe.
