Our '84 300SD received a new injection fuel pump in the late 80's as a 'failed emission' item. As the car was built (and registered) in California, MBZ was obligated with a 10 year, 100k warranty for select emissions related equipment above the standard 3yr/36k warranty. We could never tell the difference between before or after (as far as that went) - but - we took it.
That is the same car that I sold in the mid 90's for about $10k with 270k miles on it.
