Or think of the Unimog. Modern transmissions (and the sheer output of a 4-pot turbo) mean you can do a lot with a dinky engine. Will it be slow? Sure. Will it work? Yes.
That said, Audi is rating the 2.0 for 4,400lbs, while the 3.0 is rated for 7,700.
