It IS a ton of fun but places to drive it are partly why I'm selling it. :banged:
I should have thought more carefully about the logistics of running it before I built it. The closest places to run the sand rail around Seattle is partway down on the Oregon coast at Sand Lake, OR. It's about a 6-8 hr drive down there plus set up time. Reverse that to pack up and head home and then figure you'll need at least 2 days to make the trip worth while.
Oh, and you need to have a tow vehicle, trailer, place to store it, etc. etc. etc.
In theory carving out 4 days to go play on the dunes doesn't sound like
that big of a deal but life got busy and I realized I really enjoyed Jeeping on the local trails (which are 1-2 hrs from home). So, uh, after the inaugural dune run I've not driven the sand rail since. It's been sitting unloved the whole time. Which is stupid for a project I spent 2 1/2 years working on and about $9k in funding.
Live and learn I suppose . . .
