Interesting
Xdrive has been through a lot of revisions in the past 20 years no? Quattro not so much, no?
My real life experiences were owning a 1999 A6 2.8, followed by a 2001 E46 325 Xdrive, and then a 2004 A4 2.0T (wife's)
A6 was incredible, E46 was incredibly bad and Xdrive was very intrusive (maybe it would have been a tiny bit better with an auto trans) A4 was very good.
The A4 was probably more fun snow and ice driving, mainly due to it being lighter than the A6
