Alan, yes, that’s a good point—and Acura’s other “super handling” vehicles just reverse that layout, and put one motor one the front axle and two on the rear.

For Acura’s hybrid system, the single motor is integrated with the DCT, and the dual motors are integrated into a Twin Motor Unit; they’re basically next to one another, back to back, each driving a wheel. Diagrams and reviews suggest that each motor simply powers its wheel directly, but the reality seems to be more complicated than that, because of the need for reduction gearing. See here:
