So... As I mentioned in the Mustang thread, the Tesla is in the shop today for a tire rotation. They just called, and the tread depth is now 3/32 all around, so its time to replace the tires.
Any thoughts on what to get?
The car came with Goodyear Eagle RS-A2s, which are high perf all season. I'm guessing its been discontinued though -- not avail at either Costco or Discount Tire. But Tire Rack has them for $115 each right now ($99 off...). Even with shipping ($22) and mount/balance (Tire rack is quoting $15-25 at local shops), a new set would be just over $600. Tesla is quoting $930 if they do it...
The other OEM tire option is Michelin Primacy MXM4, which is a low rolling resistance tire -- so would give about a 3% range increase. But they are $269/tire at both Discount and Tire Rack. So ~$1150 installed (plus tax). 3% extra range isn't worth double the cost though...
Any other thoughts / recommendations?
