I don't think that service is a dealbreaker. The macan turbo (what I had) had the most torque. The base 4-cyl is pretty much a normal CUV with niceties.
The downfall of the macan (for me) is interior space. It's no bigger than a 3-series, and smaller for luggage (length) than any 3-series wagon or even our alltrack. It's very luxo and fancy inside. It achieves 3-series level of handling, I'll give it that (and perhaps better steering feel and decent chassis feel). That's impressive for something tall and heavy. But then you don't get anything back for the heavy; I guess you get tall if you wanted that. You still have the same space. And you're achieving 340i levels of drive with bigger tires, bigger brakes and more gas, consuming more in the process.
