I would honestly have to be sitting in the CX-5 (which is parked at the airport right now) to remember the button dance, but I know it involves going into Mazda's maddeningly-slow infotainment system to disable it. I've periodically done an internet search to see if there's a way to permanently disable it (through re-coding) and have to date been unsuccessful.

I have to imagine I could disable the front sensor in some way but I don't drive the car enough to make that worthwhile.
