Re: the spare, aren't the brakes the same basic units from the M3? If they're the same diameter then the M3 spare solution should fit without any trouble (i.e., X6 space saver 18" steel wheel, Cadillac CTS space saver tire). It might take up your entire trunk, though.
I only had to use it once, but I was very glad I had it the one time I needed it, and it convinced me that I am not psychologically ready to give up having a spare.
