ED isn't a discount for M cars, right? Or they still come out of allocation so you don't have the bargaining power for a non-m? I forget how it works. But either way, ED is still a special treat. It's just fun somehow, and it adds to the purchase experience.
In terms of used, there's also something to owning a new car. If you can predict when you will keep the car for a long time, and you get a good deal on the initial purchase, it's still worth it IMO.

I do get 5% off on ED, plus the usual haggle for another ~5% off. It will still hurt when I sell it for sure, but it is bound to have low miles and be well taken care of. If I can get someone to get past the sunroof and hold on to it for 6 years+, you never know, it might not be that awful going by late year E90 prices.
