Of course, there was another leak.

I probably touched the PCV just enough to push it over the edge while doing the oil pan gasket. Net-net, post pan gasket I had a vacuum leak and oil down the side of the engine.

This provided the final nudge to go ahead and do the M56 SULEV valve cover and PCV retrofit. Now, I have a nice aluminum valve cover that won’t warp, a rebuildable and easily accessible PCV, and one less thing to worry about under the intake.
