Back when I was in HS and the Mustang we got was 'brand new' to us - I used to give my dad a bad time about "Why didn't we get a 500KR? All we got was the 'GT'..." LOL

I was joking, but back in the late 70's - these cars were just plain CHEAP.
My dad paid $2,200 for the Mustang in 1979 The Shelby like this was ~$4,000 or so... Not much different in the grand scheme of things, but.... still 'double' is double. I figure the Mustang is worth (as a fully restored car) about $55k. The Shelby is (as shown by the auction above) north of $200k. LOL

Hindsight is wonderful. LOL
