Options also include over torquing it to the block, but that's highly risky with aluminum. I'd almost recommend preemptive helicoils.

BavAuto offers a Viton version of that oil filter housing gasket, with the thought that it will extend the gasket's service life. Doesn't seem to have caught on, I don't really see much mention of it anywhere.
Edit: And now, from what I can gather, that part is NLA because the manufacturer wasn't willing to continue making it at relatively low volumes (still hundreds at a time). It was available roughly Aug 2016 - early May 2017. Never mind, I guess.
