Metallic brown has been a thing for a while now, though. I noticed it first on Porsches during the recession, and developed a theory that people who could still afford Porsches during shitty economic times bought them in drab colors to evade the Jacobins.
But I'm not sure why it's lasted. Maybe because the recovery has been so lopsided.
