If you're truly over the FoST, it might be time to pick up something to make you happier and keep you interested even if it's not what you really want? Sorry about the increased expenses. I keep finding out that my plans never seem to go how I intend.
I'm keeping an eye on the rulebook before I officially decide what I'm doing this year.

My non-local schedule minimum would be
NJ Pro
Spring Nats (both)
Toledo Pro
Finale/Nats
I also want to do Pittsburgh Match and the Bristol Match and Champ Tours, but I'd cut them pretty easily.
If time and other things made them possible, I'd add Ft Myers and Oscoda Pros (and possibly swap Pitt for Blytheville Pro) and maybe Charlotte Match.
I wouldn't really expect myself to be "happier" in a turbo Camaro, which would also be pretty low spec, but it would be different that where I'm at. Going in with a 1-2 year expectation would help offset any negatives if it seems like a mistake quickly. And I could get out and correct without losing a lot of money if it was that bad.
