Poor guy, made the right choice in transmissions and then this happens... The subaru CVT is awful - it was a dealbreaker for me when I had a brand new Forester loaner for a day.
Both my US cars, '86 Mercury and '15 JGC had foot e-brakes. Ugh. The Jeep's didn't work... at all. I'm still livid about it. That diesel engine pulled that brake for blocks or miles easily. Dealer did nothing.
Even the wording is different, in RoW, it's called a "hand brake". Historically PRND-loving US calls it an e-brake and often it's operated by the foot. And really hardly used.
