I live near but not in Manhattan, and never buy gas there, so no effect to me. I still am not enthused by having to charge up every 3 hrs of highway driving. I generally don't drive during the week, when I drive on the weekends, I typically go further.
If the deal is so good that hundreds of thousands sign up and the stock price has gone to the stratosphere, I see a mania being inflated with federal incentives. I also take issue with the Fed's ZIRP (zero interest rate policy) causing the real estate, stock (less of one) and even old porsche bubbles. That is far less direct than this. Outright funneling to EV stockholders and drivers... The US tax system is broken from beginning to end.
