A6 was incredible, E46 was incredibly bad and Xdrive was very intrusive (maybe it would have been a tiny bit better with an auto trans) A4 was very good.

The A4 was probably more fun snow and ice driving, mainly due to it being lighter than the A6
Quattro use to be the same but not anymore, haldex on the transverse engine and now have some crap called ultra or something. I think it is like haldex, fwd until slip for fuel economy I think. Longitudinal engined S models I think still have "traditional" quattro.
