I've completed two 850 mile round trips from Indy to Mystic, CT in the past 7 months. About 13.5 hours on average, and it would be closer to 13 if it weren't for gridlock when I hit the Chimpanzee Bridge (aka Tappanzee) seemingly every time.
"Settling" for the ZHP was not a bad decision. Since I've had both I can say that the ZHP is the superior daily driver. But if you need a reliable all-weather chariot, hate dorking around with snows (
) and don't mind a rather robust exhaust note at times the R32 is hard to beat in my opinion.
My next door neighbor's adult son comes to town each year for the 500, usually in the Mk IV R of his sons best friend (at least until recently when he totalled it). Mk IV is more of a raunchy street fighter.......hooliganesque in its demeanor, whereas the V is much more civilized, sort of a gentlemen's fighter operating under Marquess of Queensberry rules. So where the IV attempts to land hay-makers, the V will jab you to death.
I like that the IV came with stick and you could get it in bad-assed black. But I like the V for its well sorted suspension (the equal of any BMW I've ever driven), and that it can fly under the radar unlike the somewhat boy racer IV.
Bottom line is I would like to have both. But I'm more than satisfied and blessed to have the latest offering in Crystal blue.
R20 remains interesting, but just vaporware for NA so far.
And even if it does come over the pond I'm not sure I'll be interested. One turbo in the stable is enough, and I'm now quite partial to the V6 particularly in light that initial reports state the 4's exhaust note is less "substantial".
