when it's at this level of sale price, now i am obligated to consider 997TTs and circa 2011 GT3s. because this is just an absurd amount of money for a car whose critique has mainly been "underpowered" --
i'm now considering a quick flight to Phoenix for a 997TT or to Portland OR for a 997TT. It's really difficult for me to commit to a car like the GT4 without really understanding if it's going to appeal to the Neanderthal in me. i guess this is all predictable.

That's pretty frustrating, yeah, that dealers play those games even on high-end cars where you've got a demonstrated intent and ability to buy. Really irritating.
I guess the question is what you plan to do with the car? Are you going to use it for long-haul highway driving? Or just as a local toy?
Personally, I'd take the GT3 over the turbo (and the Cayman) all day, every day, but the GT3 is a bucket list car for me in a way the Turbo just isn't.
I like this one a lot.

And if you wanted something a bit more...special? How about a GT3 RS?

Which, ok, it's a lot more money but it keeps popping up in my FB feed and I really, really want it.
Actually this one is cheaper and kind of a more interesting color combo:
