Just be aware that most/all (?) of these dash cams do loop recording, where the video is saved in individual video files of a couple minutes each. When it starts running out of memory card space, it will start overwriting the oldest files.

A GoPro won't operate that way unless you tell it to. A GoPro can also leave the car when you're on foot, under its own power, and record footage as you walk around sightseeing.

My daughter has the GoPro Hero Session, and she loves it. It's very inconspicuous, mounting practically anywhere without being overly obvious or in the way. It's also waterproof (down to some depth). She records a lot of video of lacrosse, mounted to a goal, or to her head strap thing.
