I'm still in this mindset too. It's hard to swallow the notion of going over $100k for my next car. It's a mental barrier that probably goes back to the 80s when I was reading road and track and seeing the list prices of the super exotics I was lusting over back then when a Ferrari 328 was ~$75k.
