I would personally take a 340i over an S4, but I don't like the exterior enough. Are you sure you can live with the steering of the b8.5 s4? I couldn't. Perhaps the b8 (2012) would have been better.

B8 steering is OK, but weird.
I have no idea what the stick is like, but the steering in the B9 A4 absolutely kicks the shit out of the F30, IMO. And the 2.0T is surprisingly grunty. IMO, it's a much better appliance than the F30, as long as you can live with less power.
