S62B50 into E30 M3

I can already tell that this is going to be a fun one. The engine is 2" wider than the frame rails.

I also need to pull the service history. I'm curious why the DME was replaced and whether or not the VANOS units were replaced (they have later solenoid covers than they should).

Well, I was wondering what to do if the stock S62 wasn't powerful enough to run out the speedo at Summit Main! :D

Awesome. I've established (thankfully through research, and not bitter experience) that the S62 can not be safely mounted to an engine stand and rotated. The mount holes are not strong enough to support it. Now, I'll need to work out either a way to support the front while it's rotated, or do the rod bearings the hard way. In the car.

I guess on the plus side, the motor may be going in the car sooner than planned. :p

Your solution is lacking in ingenuity. Boo

Ugh. Don't do this.

It's not so bad on a lift. Not my preference by a long shot, though.

We will see. If I can figure out a good way to rotate it without tearing the block, I'd rather do that.
