I find DeMuro interesting because he clearly has a schtick that he’s developed, and a way of exaggerated speaking that plays into that schtick, that’s absolutely awful. Like…terrible.
But when he’s not doing that—like when he’s just driving the car and sort of talking about how it feels—I actually like his style. I think he’d probably be fun to talk to.
It’s too bad so much of his videos are the stilted other bullshit, though.
And, whatever, Cars and Bids seems fine, good luck to him with that. I’ve just come to the conclusion that any of those auction sites are really bad places to buy cars, and that there’s no way to fully convey a car’s condition with pictures. That was driven home to me shopping for used Jettas; there was such a vast difference in condition in ways that simply couldn’t be captured in pics that I think it would be insane to buy any car through an auction site without having seen it in person first.
The other thing that drove that home for me was selling my car to FC. Even in a transaction between people who knew each other, there were challenges (like FedEx deciding to defer delivery of the title for a few days). I can’t imagine trusting either a buyer or a seller that I didn’t already know enough to go through a long distance purchase that way.
