Some questions. Manual Transmission required.

‘Have 12-15 months until the GTS arrives.

I would like to have a manual in the interim.

May I have some sassy and Uber-opinionated comments on the following cars? Assume pre-owned with CPO status.

1. 991.2 Carrera T

2. 982 Cayman T

3. 2018 M3 (four doors is nice to have) 6 speed

4. 991.2 GTS (trying to avoid because it’s too close to what I ordered)

I think the premium for the 'T' is not worth it.

Do you not enjoy convertibles?

I would go the M3 route. It will make taking the delivery of the GTS that much sweeter.

Well…..less so.

I love the 987. It’s light and responsive. I have not driven a 911 cabrio since my 993 cabrio. And that was very off putting for rigidity even though it was super well built. Not rational, right?

you may want to check out a 991 cabrio. The folding hard top (its magnesium under the cloth) really is an engineering masterpiece.

Also, based on your current fleet, I'd consider a 1M. Just an absolute blast and very different from anything you currently have. The collectability angle is nice too.

I think you captured an essential point —in this inflationary market, I would be stupid to not think about residual values. I have looked at the 1M also. Yes. I’m the kind of person that needs to see the cars in person though, so I’m not good with remote BaT kind of transactions.

Why not a CT4 Blackwing?

I like the M3. It’s not nimble but it’s fun in its way. Has a hooligan charm. And I agree that it will be a nice contrast to what you’ve ordered.

I have been watching. They’re so new there are no CPOs yet. And as much as I love that car as well as the CT5V BW, I hate to lose that much money in the first 12 months.

Have a couple different thoughts on this:

1. Having something that could give you a different experience than a 911 kinda makes sense. Would you be ok holding onto any of those cars alongside your new GTS (if the used car market were to drop by that point)?

2. Maybe just get a 991.2 GTS....like you said it'll be pretty close to what you've ordered. If you end up loving it maybe you just keep it and cancel the new car order....and if you dont like it maybe you end up just cancelling the new car since it is likely to be quite similar. IF you do end up sticking with the original plan of selling it (or trading it in) when the new car comes in, I'd imagine the "spread" will stay the most consistent depsite what the market does which helps reduce risk.

Lemming, OT, but did you finalize the GTS specs?
