The dumbest corner of the automotive world?
I am going to nominate the 1993 NAS Land Rover Defender 110.
As evidence, I submit this example, which has been hit in the rear, still needs extensive bodywork (how extensive? "a new frame will be required to bring the truck back to top condition"), has had a claimed $60,000 invested over the past year, and is still going for $45K. And the people on the thread at BaT seem to think that's a pretty decent deal. I never realized how reasonable the 911 market is. http://bringatrailer.com/2015/10/04/...-defender-110/ |
Yeah, I don't get it either.

Interestingly, I was in Vermont yesterday and saw a white LWB Defender of this vintage on a car carrier. I wonder if it was this one.
Strangely enough, three of my neighbors have SWB Defenders. I'd love to have one, but lack the funds and space. |
Holy cow. It's just they rare I guess?
What's a good condition one sell for? |
I'm sure parts are hard to come by, but $60k in one year does sound pretty ridiculous.
Aren't these the trucks that the Gov't was repossessing? |

Interest in defenders seems to have shot up exponentially in the past year or so.
