Tires, again.
I feel like I ask this question a lot, but all the threads I could find searching were old.
So, here goes: Need tires for the Boxster. I'll use them on the street, but only in niceish weather. I'll also use them for DEs. I want them to last fairly well on the track, but also be as grippy as possible. I've got Yoko AD-08s, which have lasted two years and something like 12 track days, which seems hard to beat. The other option is the Potenza RE-11, which are on sale and $200 cheaper for the set. PSSs are supposed to be great, but the shoulder wear on those is worse than the Yokos, at least from anecdotal experience. Any others worth considering? EDIT: Looks like the PSSs are $200 cheaper than the Yokos, too. That might make my decision for me. |
Can't help ya -- I managed to get the Boxster sold without changing the tires (or taking a hit for low tread depth by Carmax -- the guy happened to measure the tread depth on the one tire I had to replace due to running over a paint scraper a couple years ago)...

I have PSS's on the 997TT and I love them, but I can't speak to wear.
Just remember to get N-rated tires. |
From what I have read I would buy PSS.

If rain and comfort are not a concern, I would go with the Yokos. If they are, PSS.

Do not get the RE11. It's old tech and has been replaced by the RE11A.
I vote PSS. |
