BMW 2 Gran Coupe

I was hoping that this car would be a ~$30k answer to a car that I could be interested in making my next car. I don't think this is that car. I was willing to accept FWD and that there would be no US hatchback for this car, but it seems like it will only be AWD and no manual? I'm not sure it really checks any of the boxes other than having four doors. After spending a lot of time in a new Civic Si over the past year, I have a tough time seeing what will be so great about the new 2 Gran Coupe. It looks very heavy and not really directed at driving enthusiasts at all. I was expecting more Mini Cooper than flattened Mini Countryman with a trunk. I may try to test drive one, but there are so many other good options for the price I expect this car to list. I suppose there will be even fewer/no smaller RWD sedans with a manual available as time keeps progressing. :( |
In that price range, I'd much rather have a Civic Type R.

Wow. That is truly horrible looking.

Is it just me, or does the entire front end forward of the A pillar look to big for ten rest of the car? Looks like it’s from a 5 or 7, grafted onto the passenger compartment of a 2 or 3?

Glad I didn't wait for an M2 gran Coupe. Not only is it nothing like a sedan version of the M2, it's still not even in the horizon.
For that matter, for all the talk of the next M3 showing up "right away," It looks like I would have had to wait 2+ years for a first-year model (which I would not do), since it probably won't be unveiled until this spring and won't start selling until at least Fall of 2020. |

But there is no good reason that BMW sedans should now resemble Camry's |
