Flooding in DC

Aside from asking to see how everyone is doing over there (I hope everyone is ok and not flooding at home, etc.), this sort of thing always makes me worry when looking at used cars.

Indeed. On a related note: What the hell has happened to DC weather in the three years since I left? So apocalyptic these days.

I think that the reality is that any used car that meets your standards is almost certainly not going to be a flood car.

Fortunately, I got the flash flood warning in time to get home from the coffee shop with puppy with about two minutes to spare. I shoved him in the house and it started pouring literally as I pulled out of the garage. And when it’s raining, I avoid driving through Rock Creek Park for obvious reasons.

A group chat of friends that I’m in included hilarious discussions about the etiquette of wringing out and drying clothing at the office.

The funny thing is that the storm didn't really seem that bad in the car. Really heavy? Yeah. But record breaking rainfall? Not so much.

The worst flooding experience occurred to me when I got caught in a wicked rainstorm while going to work in the afternoon. It was pouring so hard and fast that even my wipers at their highest setting were useless.

I exited off I-80 and ended up in a low lying street. Water was at the level of my rocker panel, and a lifted pickup was going faster than he was supposed to, making a tidal-wave that made the flood water splash a little on my window. (What's up with these douche-bag drivers and their obnoxiously-lifted rigs anyway ??). Thought for sure I'd end up with a wet floor after that episode, but luckily nothing was damaged.

Don't the religious wackos blame weather on things like bad guys moving to town? Hmm...

FWIW, it was bad downtown the morning.
