but I also noticed that lack of buttons elsewhere though, also steering wheel looks still touch capacitive still to me

yeah- the current base model (S) has a smaller/different infotainment system and has some physical knobs...

No, but really, it's depressing.

I’m not seeing how that shift knob is particularly golf ball inspired.

And the Mk VIII doesn’t much light my fire anyway. Still, this sucks.

Inside, we're told that the GTI 380 receives a golfball-shaped shift knob as a tribute to past generations of the model, though this part isn't shown in Volkswagen's images.

Ah missed that.

Well maybe I’ll pick up a 380 knob for the Jetta.

If I had to buy a new 2023 car in that category I'd still consider one, but I am pretty glad I picked one of the last MK7's.

It's not bad from the outside, and performance appears to be good or even better, but the interior is a serious step back (no buttons and huge seats) and now with no MT, forget it.

Yeah..I love the Mk7 exterior and interior design. Its just so right. Mk8 has grown on me, and I'd consider one...atleast if you get the base trim you get a few normal knobs. But then again, I dont own a mk7 like you.
