St Louis fire
Some of you may have heard about or seen stories/video of a big fire at a St. Louis area warehouse yesterday afternoon. Reports are that there was quite a smoke event that cover much of the area by the time it was over.
The warehouse was an old cotton warehouse from a million years ago and has long been the place in the St. Louis area for people on a budget to store and work on their interesting or race cars. A guy on another board I'm on lost a couple solo vees, a Reynard FF, a 1968 AMX, and 50 years worth of tools and parts. Other people lost a bunch more. It sounds like a guy was doing some welding, set that car on fire, and then failed in an attempt to push the car outside the building before the fire spread. At that point he called for help. Also sounds like the sprinkler system didn't work (was possibly disabled, but no one knows by who or for how long) and the on site fire hydrants didn't work. No one died, but maybe one person injured (the guy the welding maybe? not sure). Quite a few people on that board are familiar with the site, have spent a lot of time in the building, and know what was lost. Insurance will be an interesting thing for everyone to sort out. https://www.google.com/maps/place/St...!4d-90.1994042 A lot of before pics in this flickr album: https://www.flickr.com/photos/142704...posted-public/ Some after pics https://i.postimg.cc/sD4NBdgF/warehouse.jpg https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...psrgloxfxn.jpg https://bloximages.newyork1.vip.town...ize=1200%2C754 News story https://www.kmov.com/news/massive-wa...a3da77868.html |
Man, that sucks, though the place in the before pics looks like a tinderbox. Hard to imagine that's all code compliant for that kind of use.

“ Yeah, sketchy AF, but cheap and available.”
I think that’s less a but and more of an and, or even because. |

How did I miss this a few weeks ago.
Sad, but not actually surprising based on the before pics... |
