If you want a BMW 2 series with a stick, better order one now.

"BMW will discontinue the manual transmission option on the 2 Series coupe in the U.S. to cut costs. According to a report from Reuters, the move will help cut certification costs in the U.S. market. In addition, BMW finance chief Nicolas Peter stated that BMW will streamline its manufacturing processes by offering fewer variants of its future vehicles to offset high development costs."

That sucks, although for me personally, I think I was already screwed because the dropped it on the 'vert when the 240 was launched (if my info is/was correct). Sucks much.

Does this impact the M2 as well?

Still available (for now) in the M240 convertible but not the AWD version...

More info on Jalopnik. Likely BMW is eyeing the next gen, which is also rumored to move to the FWD platform. http://jalopnik.com/the-manual-in-th...xed-1796491694

Young guy at work has a slushie 228i AWD and hates it. Doesn't like the transmission at all and deeply regrets getting it. He laments not getting a MT.

That sounds all sorts of awful. Likely to get the MT M3 next year, which may well be among the last MT BMW's.
