I've had torsen diffs. They spin like an open diff on a lift. The Wavetrac spins both wheels in the same direction. So there is *something* happening there. It's probably not much, but more than zero is meaningful.

Either way, even a basic helical diff is going to be transformative on that car.

JV do you know anyone who has actually had the MFactory clutch-type diffs? If they're on par with Blanton and Dan's diffs in terms of noise then I'm sold. I just don't want the thing clunking and screeching like a cat in a fan belt every time I go to the store to buy groceries.

No, but there is no reason they should be louder.

I'd be curious what you see if you do some one wheel zero traction testing.

I think that you are overthinking this. :p Especially since you have ADB for those super rare situations where you'd actually have a problem.

That said, I would not pay extra for a wavetrac vs. a regular helical.

I never figured out whether ABD actually does anything on the e46.

I'm going with MFactory helical unless they convince JV that their clutch diff is tolerable on the street.

It looks like they use metal clutch disks(?) Yeah, that'll chatter on the street. If that's going to bother you than don't bother.
