tire/wheel storage

I'd like to install some sort of storage rack in our garage in CT for the X7 winter / summer tires and wheels (depending on season). Any suggestions? Storing them in a stack in our basement in Boston won't be an option soon.

Thanks!

There are tons of ways to do this. At my old place I built a simple high-mounted rack using 2x4s leftover from another project. There are also tubular steel ones you can buy from eBay, Griot's, Tirerack.com, etc.

Yeah, I'd get that. I will caution though, that I don't use that type of storage for the LR4 wheels/tires. Each weighs over 70lbs and is pretty big. That's a tricky object to lift over your head.

Perfect - thanks to you both!

May not be best for you, but something like this can work well, too:

(Or any furniture dolly type thing.) Vertical storage, but easily moveable and locks on the casters keeps them from moving when you don't want them to. If you're not going to mount the wall mounted ones near the ground, the vertical option means less lifting and more easily controllable drops getting them back on the ground.

That also looks handy, thanks! I need to go down and see how much wall / floor space we have and then pick one of these solutions. It's an old garage designed for small cars - unfortunately not a lot of room for activities.

wall mount helps if you need to clear floor space becuase something will be below the stored wheels

I got two plastic, heavy duty ones of those from HF and that's where I stack the LR4 and M4 wheels/tires.
