FS: Porsche 987 Cayman Wheels and Winter Tires - $750

Figured I'll list these here too. I bought these tires and wheels two seasons ago (2015) and only used them that year in January, about 1,500 miles on my 2011 Boxster S. They've been sitting in my basement since, as I don't use the Boxster in winter anymore. The wheels (18x8, 18x9) are in excellent condition. Zero curb rash, and only very minor scratches if anything. They are straight and true and roadforce balanced. Tires (235/40/18 and 255/40/18) are in excellent condition and have no measurable wear. These do NOT have TPMS sensors installed, however, if you're local and bring the sensors, I'll install them for you (I have a tire machine). Pickup preferred, but I'll ship them with the buyer paying the cost.

PM me with any questions. $750 / OBO

Good deal for a 987 and perhaps a 997. Pics don't show up for me.

Weird, they showed up on my phone but not on my computer.

The snow tires aren't much use to me, either, but I do quite like the Cayman wheels. Hm.

Your car is old enough to actually get use out of a winter set - even occasionally. Not only are they an inch too short for 981/991's, but my car is too valuable (to me) to drive around on snow/salt. That said, in an ideal world of easy storage and changing, I'd still prefer driving on winters even through the clean days of winter. Some slidey action is fun, but unpredictable slidey summer tires on winter pavement is not.

I've gotten to the point where I really don't drive it in the winter if it's seriously cold out, and especially if it's snowing. Just no reason to.

I do probably need to get a set of snows for the Golf, but these are probably not the right size for that. Are the tires 235/40 18 and 255 40 18?

I thought I was on a board where people drive their cars all year around ... not saying you should drive during a snow storm but how do you not drive your car for months at a time.

Shit I drive the R8 after the storm is done ... no way i’m leaving it sitting in a garage all winter long and the 991 has a dedicated winter set up ...

There are nice enough days in Maryland between December and March that I still drive it a little, but if I'm totally honest I really don't drive the Boxster if I can't put the top down. I don't enjoy driving it with the top up.

Sorry about the pics, they are on google photos and sometimes this method of linking works, sometimes not. I have no idea why it's inconsistent.

If nobody buys the package, make me an offer on the wheels and I'll sell the snow tires separately.

I guess I didn't ask enough for them. Someone paypaled me money this morning and is coming to pick them up tonight.

Ha. Nice.

I know. I kind of feel that way myself. I can't find all seasons that fit the 19s on the spouse's 718s. I know she will insist on driving the thing in cold sunny weather. She's never loved a car--or any material thing--as much as her Porsche.

Didn't make sense for you. You are not driving your Cayman R the way you drove your e46. Don't you have 3 cars now?

John V 10-13-2017 11:18 AM

Yeah, I don't remotely see the point of Matt considering them. he'll soon have an xi BMW back, plus an E46 with an LSD.

I have Conti DW tires on the Boxster, and they work well enough down to 45 degrees (never tried lower than that). The car is so low that driving it in snow wouldn't be very fun. A Cayman R would be worse with how low they are from the factory... plus these are like the second-ugliest wheels to come on a 987.

I tried searching for pricing on snow wheel / tire packages but didn't come up with any sale prices because Planet-9 uses that stupid Panjo marketplace that deletes the ad details when the item sells. I'm more motivated by easy / quick sales than making the last couple bucks, but with the inquiries I keep getting about them I must have really under-priced them. :/

I SO agree about that horrible Panjo site. Also the worst search function on any planet.
