Crazy vid here of a cop writing a ticket to the driver of a 750, and almost getting wiped out when an M3 comes flying across the median. A Z4 narrowly misses the M3, too.

Like something out of the Hire.

Anyway, glad the officer is okay, though I think the better move would have been to jump the guardrail.

That's crazy. Fortunate that everyone involved is ok really.

Yeah, better to jump the guardrail but hard to make perfect decisions in those circumstances.

Yeah, that's around the corner from Mike's place. A 17 year old in an F80 is a bad time.

The big key with that kind of situation is not to hesitate. Over the guardrail would have been better, but moving instantly kept him alive (or at least kept him from getting his legs crushed).

Any way to view without clicking a twatter link?

And yeah on the 17 year old point; it’s one of the reasons I didn’t want to just let my kid borrow our cars when she learned to drive.

Thanks!

There are so many 400+hp (heck... 300+hp) cars out there these days, it's terrifying that parents are letting their kids behind the wheel of them alone.

Yup. It's crazy.

Agreed. It's plenty scary to think of letting my kids drive the GTI with "only" ~220hp. I happened to look it up the other day and the acceleration numbers are at least equal to the E46 ZHP if not better. And in real life driving, it's faster. You had to work the ZHP a little bit. The GTI pulls from 2krpm.

John V 05-03-2023 01:49 PM

My opinion on cars for kids is well documented  I agree that a modern GTI is way too fast for an inexperienced driver. At least they're very safe cars.
