On the other hand, maybe the 19s don’t fit?

Doh.

It would be easier to make decisions on what packages to buy if Tesla would let you know what was in those packages.

Looks like TST 18" wheels fit... I think this solves it for me. I wonder if switching will put me far back in the queue.

Definitely leave no upgrade on the table. Just a reason to kick yourself later.

Even the "rice package" as they call it in the Tesla forums!

PS you guys are a terrible influence.

It's just the lack of ability to run 18's that's stopping me.

But here are the sidewall heights to compare:

E46: 225/45-17: 4"
Tesla 235/45-18: 4.2"
Tesla 235/40-19: 3.7"

I'm attempting to rationalize that 3.7 is close enough to the e46 that is basically the same. It's a larger diameter wheel too.

This got me curious… The 19's on the Model S take a 245/45R19 tire, which has a 4.3" sidewall, so I'll be going down 0.6 of an inch.

FWIW, the Model S 21's are 245/35R21 -- which has a 3.4" sidewall. Let's hope the extra 0.3" gives pothole protection!

Yep.

Depending on what Carmax offers, I may try to private party it. But I don’t really want to deal with that. Tesla’s offer came in about what I expected. When I sold the Boxster to get the S, Carmax came in $3k higher than Tesla — nearly double the tax benefit. We’ll see how it goes.

Hit Carmax today… Offer is $3300 more than Tesla

I emailed Tesla to see if they'd match Carmax. That would give me an additional sales tax benefit of ~$1800… Should know tomorrow...
