so the rumor was true.

depending on the pricing(i.e. closer to existing GTS then GT4) it seems like a cool option.

Porsche even say if this engine is considered a GT engine? I assume not since based of the non gt 3.0l.

That's a nice car. But way pricey for the use case. Too bad. I still lament that a good, used Boxster S is so expensive nowadays.

Finally. Maybe this will drive down the 981 S and GTS crazy pricing.

In absolute terms, I guess. But considering this car has basically the perfect spec, presumably will be available for less than 100k, and is a car you can keep for a decade or more...it doesn’t seem nuts. Particularly compared to used 911 prices.

Of course it’s always a bit silly to buy a new Porsche. But if ever there were one to buy (other than say a GT3 Touring), this is it.

For me, on the street, the 3.8L GT4 was not as fun as the Cayman R (my benchmark) or any other 3.4L (S or GTS). Having had the GT4 out of my system, I don't see the allure of the 4.0... Also depends on what they do with the rear suspension. If they do the GT3 treatment and 295 rears like on the GT4, it becomes super planted and the car loses some playfulness/neutrality. But if you keep the basic rear suspension that the boxster/cayman comes with and add a bunch of power, it will not put it down too well (even with LSD).

Still, nice to know that there will be some NA flat-6's and not just turbo 4's.

Not an “Alcantra” fan (ultrasuede, anyone?) but the rest sounds great.
