Name that fluid

Found this pool in the garage this morning. No noticeable smell and not viscous. But slight reddish color. Originating from just ahead of the left rear wheel.

I'd guess brake fluid :dunno:

Same, if it's reddish. VAG uses an orange-colored coolant in many (all?) of its cars, but there's no reason that would be coming from near the rear wheel.

If it's brake fluid, you would know if you drove it. That's more than a little. The pedal would feel soft and braking performance should be affected.

Check reservoir. Give a few solid pumps to the pedal before driving and see if/how much more comes out.

Clean up the spill as quickly and thoroughly as you can and keep the dog away until you do.

Wagon, right? Windshield washer fluid from. The rear window reservoir?

It's not the right color for that. Based on the lack of smell and the lack of viscosity and the location, I'd agree that brake fluid seems most likely.

Good times...

Actually, the brake fluid has a smell. This doesn't.

I just jacked it up and found where it's dripping from.

Failed shock?

Nick M3 06-28-2019 11:42 AM

If it’s not oily, I’d suspect a sudden release of accumulated water.
