Seattle peeps

small time dealer in my town has a 2000 M5 6speed for sale. It is not on his mediocre website yet http://awdautosales.com/ but he want 8900 for it, window paint says he has records for it and it has a new clutch. (110,000 miles on it)

I don't want to buy it, but I do plan on taking it for a drive on Saturday.

Just letting you know, Kevin and Lupinsea, n case you want to try it too

would be nice to try - Saturday is difficult though... :(

I'll keep your activity in mind though.

Thanks

Price sounds decent for an M5 though I don't know the market for the cars.

I'm kind of over BMW. I loved our ZHP but the long-term upkeep of it dampened my enthusiasm for high(er) market cars. We just don't have the budget for them and I don't want the stress of higher repair costs. Basically, our BMW experience taught me that if you can barely afford to buy the car you can't really afford to own the car. Because all other costs of owner ship will be hire too.

Anyways, that's my own personal hang up.

yeah, I don't want to own it, but I do want to try it

Just an FYI, I wouldn't pass judgement on what an e39 M5 is like based on an $8900 example. M5s that haven't been properly cared for feel like crap. It may be a fun test drive, but I'm guessing it will feel very loose, dated, beat up, and not overly quick due to a combination of slipping clutch, bad MAFs etc. I drove a few before picking the one I owned and the range of quality between well maintained ones and neglected cars was pretty staggering.
