Notable car sighting thread
I'll start it off with a 1st-gen Subaru Tribeca ultra-strech limo (WTF?!).
2 miles later, I saw a Ford GT. Red with white stripes. It was pretty. Sorry, no pics. |
bren had a great car sighting the other day due to its tag and context, but only got a lousy blown out photo
|
In defense of the photo - I was trying to keep up with a Lamborghini into a tight off-camber turn, while driving a full size pickup with a car trailer and take the photo with a cell phone at the same time. I couldn't exactly control the location of sun. :toetap: :)

What kind of Lambo was it?
|
Whatever kind it was, it had MD State Police tags.
edit: I don't know if it's notable, but I also spotted an F'car and my first Panamera on the road. There was also an Amish couple in a Mazda 626. |
Saw a black Koenigsegg while in Las Vegas a couple weeks ago.
|
Remembered another one....an Elvis impersonator in a Camry. The most notable thing about that was the idiot in front of me in the fast lane who decided to slam on the brakes and get out his cell phone to take a pic.
edit: Actually, now that I think about it, the most notable thing might have been that the Camry wasn't doing 5 under in the fast lane. |
I will take a stroll through the lot parking lot sometime this week and post a list. Everything is in here somewhere. I saw a panamera and an Mx6 or whatever those stupid things are the last time I had a meeting that crosses one lot.
Of course there are beat up civics too. Sort of a complete cross section. |
I have both a sighting and a drive:
Sighting: I saw one of the new Bentley Mulsanne's a couple weeks ago. Didn't get a very good glimpse -- it was going north while I was driving south. From a distance, I thought it was a Continental (and I see those almost daily) -- its obviously a Bentley and the front shape is similar to a Continental. I didn't realize it was a Mulsanne until it was about to pass me -- its much larger than a Continental, and the rear haunches are curvier. Drive: I got to drive a Lotus Evora a couple weeks ago. Fantastic, natural, light. About the only thing I didn't like was that there was almost too much steering feel (you could feel every little bump in the road)... Edit: As for Panameras, I'm starting to see them almost every day. Saw 3 in 10 minutes a couple weekends ago... |
A panamera came to the park near me to watch the Red Bull air race. Yesterday, a new red ferrari 430 spyder was up to some on the t-pike... Dealer plates, dude totalling enjoying the afternoon. All sorts of cars fell in behind him (s4 'vert, 535 etc). I had some fun ignoring all that, not going all that fast and still passing them. Knowing your lanes and traffic patterns can do wonders. ;)
|
I saw a matte black vinyl-wrapped Rolls in Beverly Hills last week. Silly.
|
I did see a panamera "in the wild" the other day... wedged bewteen two mom-mobiles at a supermarket parking lot. I suppose it's just a car.

We don't see many exciting cars in this part of the country thanks to the short summers, but I did see the Panamera and an IS-F (Nick's favorite car of all time) last night. Nothing terribly special, other than being somewhat rare-ish (for now)
|
Saw a Panamera a few weeks ago when our office went out to lunch. The interior looks great but it's still a goofy looking car, even in person. The Porsche dude in our office loves it, though.
|
My brother test drove one and raves about it. Of course, he's a little nuts. And he is a new (Orange) Cayman owner, so there you go. Fanboi-itus can't be helped in that situation.

Not sure this counts as notable, but saw this at lunch today.
|
Going back to my Geneva thread a couple of weeks ago, I saw an FXX, Zonda, Miura, etc. Around my home earlier this week I saw an ooooollllddd french race car with a guy wearing a leather helmet and goggles. Pretty cool

I spotted a Maserati GranTurismo in Jersey City (on the 1&9 Pothole Farm, no less!). Black paint w/ cinnamon leather interior. Nice.

I should take a pic, but I see an early E23 733i when I go to classes at grad school. It must be a professor or someone who works at the school that drives it. I'll snap a pic if I get the chance.
I saw an X6 M in the parking lot at my softball game. |

It's really the only way north out of town. But I usually go 78 (i.e. south) and loop around to avoid it.

Not recent, and not really notable cars per se, but a couple of dumb, car-related photos taken a while back with my phone.
Worst parking job I've seen in a while, and a Caravan with a BMW roundel (very hard to see, I know). |
I like the second one.

There's a thread around here somewhere with pic of a Cayman with flames painted all over it....I saw it today.
I also saw an Audi R8, and 2 separate incidents where cars were driven head first into the center lane divider on the highway. |
By the way, I'd like to point out that the car who drove into the center lane divider was
(wait for it) a Camry. |

I like this one. Doesn't look like a jelly bean secretary's car like the "normal" ones.
|
Some one where we are working this summer has a black R8. I see it most days in the "special employee" parking lot. Haven't seen who drives it yet, but it is probably one of the owners of the amusement park.

Do internet sightings count?
http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets...her_1600px.jpg  I have no clue why anyone would buy a mustang over this! ;) |
I was just at the dealer that sold me our Malibu. While I was there 4 brand new Calloways were being unloaded for their stock (2 vette's, 2 Camaro's)
I kinda joked/hinted with my salesman that it would be nice to take one out for a ride, but he said the GM already stated that test drives were only going to be made after deposits :( |
Saw a grey Tesla on Constitution Ave. this morning, commuting into the city.
